Our Story

Nearly Three Decades of Reinvention

INT. began in 1997 with a young entrepreneur, a newly discovered technology, and an almost accidental begining. Since then, the company has reinvented itself repeatedly from websites and internet services to mobile, digital transformation, enterprise engineering, data, cloud, cybersecurity and now AI.

The technologies changed. The scale changed. The markets changed. The problems we were trusted to solve became larger and more complex. But the instinct to learn, adapt, take ownership and remain useful to the customer has stayed with us throughout. This is the journey that shaped INT.

1997 – 2002

The Beginning

Websites, Hosting, Domain – Hobby becomes a business

INT. started in Kolkata in 1997, at a time when the commercial internet itself was new.

There was no elaborate business plan. We learnt by doing whatever came our way – registering domain names, hosting websites, building websites, providing internet services, and solving whatever technology problems our early customers brought to us.

An accidental beginning started to take shape as a business.

Key milestones
What this chapter taught us:
Learn fast. Stay curious. Find a way.

2002 – 2008

Becoming a Company

From websites to complex digital solutions

As businesses began taking the internet seriously, INT. grew with them. The team expanded. Capabilities became more structured. Website development evolved into broader digital solutions and digital marketing. We stayed at the cutting edge of digital marketing to generate global opportunities – literally selling, collaborating, delivering, serving, invoicing, and receiving payments – all online. We became a global company from a small office in Kolkata. The growth was a mix of marketing maths and customer references.

We started having referral and reseller partners globally. We launched Dedicated Hiring – the managed Full-time equivalent (FTE) model for SMEs and agencies. We scaled from a team of 10 people to almost ~200 professionals across multiple offices. We scrambled for talent – and started our first office outside Kolkata in Chennai. We also started our own IT Academy for backward integration and to get a continuous flow of talent.

In 2007, we went to meet our customers at CeBIT Hanover, and then to London, UK. We met our clients face-to-face for the first time. It opened a world of possibilities for us. And then the iPhone arrived.

Key milestones
What this chapter taught us:
Start with the business, not the technology.

2008 – 2013

Going Global

Web, mobile and digital engineering for international markets

The next phase took INT. increasingly outside India. We began working extensively with agencies and businesses internationally – often becoming the technology team behind another organisation’s digitisation. At the same time, mobile was rapidly changing the digital world.

INT. expanded beyond web engineering into mobile applications and broader digital development. Working across customers, countries and time zones demanded another level of discipline. Quality had to be consistent. Delivery had to be dependable. And another company’s reputation was often riding on our work.

Key milestones
What this chapter taught us:
Treat the customer's reputation as carefully as your own.

2013 – 2018

The Renaissance

Building the institution behind the entrepreneurship

Growing a business and building an institution are very different challenges. By this stage, INT. had strong technology capabilities and a growing international customer base. But the next stage of the journey required more than entrepreneurial energy. It required transformation inside INT. itself. This became a period of deliberate investment in organisational design, leadership, processes, quality systems, delivery governance and stronger engineering practices.

At the same time, we began moving steadily up the value chain from primarily executing digital work to taking responsibility for larger and more complex technology initiatives. We became technology partners for large enterprises with multi-year deals emerging. Internally, we came to describe this period as the Renaissance.

Key milestones
What this chapter taught us:
Scale capability without creating distance from the customer

2018 – 2023

Becoming an Enterprise Technology Partner

Taking responsibility for business-critical technology

By 2018, INT.’s centre of gravity had shifted decisively towards enterprise technology. Our work increasingly involved complex digital engineering for organisations in industries such as financial services, insurance and life sciences, environments where reliability, regulation, data, integration, security and business continuity matter deeply. Our capabilities expanded accordingly.

Applications connected with data. Cloud became fundamental. Cybersecurity became inseparable from enterprise technology. Analytics began playing a larger role in decision-making. And the customer conversation evolved too. It became less about: “Can you build this?” and increasingly about: “Can we trust you to take responsibility for getting this right?” We also navigated the COVID pandemic with grit and resolve, while serving the community around us in every way possible.

Key milestones

2020

Indus Net Technologies becomes INT.

As the business evolved, the identity needed to evolve with it.

In 2020, Indus Net Technologies became INT. It was a simplification of the name, but also a reflection of how the company itself had changed.

From its beginnings in web technology, INT. had grown into a much broader enterprise technology organisation. The identity became simpler. The ambition became larger.

What this chapter taught us:
Relationships outlast projects.

2023 – Today

Building a Broader Technology Institution

Enterprise technology no longer fits comfortably inside individual technology silos.

Applications connect with data. Data connects with AI. Cloud connects with cybersecurity. Customer experience connects with operational systems. What gets built needs to be integrated, secured, governed and continuously operated. INT. has therefore continued to broaden both its capabilities and the ecosystem around them. Some of that growth has been organic.

Some has come through specialist businesses, acquisitions and strategic investments. And increasingly, we have also invested in building our own platforms and intellectual property. The objective is not breadth for the sake of breadth. It is to remain capable of following an important customer problem wherever it leads.

What this chapter taught us:
Follow the customer's problem wherever it leads.

Today

The AI-First Chapter Chapter

AI represents another fundamental shift in technology. For INT, becoming AI-first is not about adding AI to a list of services. It is changing both what the market wants, what we build and how we build it.

01 / ENTERPRISE

AI inside applications and processes

AI is increasingly embedded into applications, data systems, workflows, customer experiences and enterprise processes.

02 / ENGINEERING

AI inside how software is built

It is also transforming software engineering itself—from discovery and development to testing, modernisation and operations. Spec-driven Development is becoming the norm.

03 / PLATFORMS

AI inside INT. intellectual property

And last, but not least, AI allows us to craft pathbreaking platforms – by applying our decades of industry experience.

INT is investing across all three dimensions.

From Services to Platforms

Today, INT's platform portfolio includes:

Another important chapter in INT’s evolution has been the move from purely providing technology capability to also building reusable intellectual property of our own.

OneSpace

Enterprise AI & Knowledge

Cogniverse

Decision Intelligence

Vyom AI

Voice AI

AI-powered enterprise learning

AI-powered enterprise learning

Breeze

Revenue maximisation for distribution-led businesses

Origin

AI-enabled core insurance technology

These platforms are not a departure from our services heritage. They are a consequence of it. Many emerged from problems we repeatedly encountered while working with enterprises—allowing us to convert accumulated experience into reusable technology.

The Story Behind the Timeline

A timeline can tell you what happened.

The Making of INT

These are first-person stories about building the company—not polished corporate retrospectives.

It cannot fully explain what it felt like while it was happening. Those stories explain INT in a way corporate history never can. Our Founder & CEO, Abhishek Rungta, is documenting them personally through a series titled:

Chapter 01

The “Accidental” Company - How INT. Started: Part 1

The unlikely events that introduced Abhishek to the internet and eventually led to the creation of INT.

29 Years of Growth

There is another part of this history that matters deeply to us.

INT has grown every year since it was founded.
And it has been profitable every single year.

And a business built substantially through the revenues generated by serving customers. That financial discipline has given INT. something we value enormously: independence.

The ability to invest for the long term. The ability to navigate difficult periods. The ability to make decisions without the pressures of a funding cycle. And the freedom to preserve the customer-first, service-oriented and fairness-led philosophy on which the company was built. Our financial history is therefore part of our company story—not simply a number in an annual report.

Nearly Three Decades Behind Us. The Most Interesting Part Is Ahead.

Our history matters because of what it allows us to bring to the future.

We have seen technologies appear, mature and disappear. We have built through economic cycles, market changes, organisational transformations and several generations of digital technology. That experience gives us perspective.

But it has not made us attached to the past. If anything, 29 years have taught us that longevity in technology comes from continuous change. And hence, what keeps us going are:

1. The ability to keep changing.

Today, AI is opening another extraordinary chapter. We do not know exactly where every part of that journey will lead. That is familiar territory for us. We have spent nearly three decades learning how to navigate change while remaining focused on what matters: understand where the business needs to go, choose technology with purpose, and stay committed to the journey.

2. The terrain keeps changing. The responsibility does not.
